I am a
Montana artist and graphic
designer who lives in the Paradise Valley and
works from my home studio on Rock Creek Road.
I am
drawn to, and so my work is filled with, vibrant colors and
expressive composition. I am
a self-taught artist. As a young girl I was
deeply inspired by the works of Diego Rivera
and Frida Kahlo. I observed their works first
hand when visiting Mexico. The colors of
Mexico and the tropics are often found in my
art.
I find that I cannot limit myself to a particular
style, and that now is the time for observation,
study, exploration, and passion – in a word FREEDOM.
I embrace many art forms including photography, digital,
watercolor, and encaustic. My preferred medium is oil,
but I find encaustic to be the most liberating
of all the mediums
My style tends to be of a contemporary nature
that runs to expressionistic. I have a deep love
of nature and all animals, and in particular horses – but am
also intrigued by the spectrum of human emotion and behavior.
My work is filled with my own passion, soul, and what I believe
to be a rather exotic spirit.
The highest compliment I ever
received with regard to a specific painting was to have it
bring tears to the eyes of the beholder. Art should evoke deep
feelings for the viewer and, in my opinion, never be said to
look "just
like a photograph."
